Luis is experimenting with a different way of managing styles in Figma. He argues that bringing styles a lot closer to their usage makes it easier to understand the context.
I'm playing around with the idea of managing styles in Figma slightly differently

Let's take a look at:
• Styles as components
• Contextual, semantic styles
• Simulating "aliases"
• HSL colours

Now it’s easier to track changes to components and styles. A new icon shows when styles or instances have changed, lets you accept changes for individual instances or layers, and even shows a before vs. after preview! See a quick demo by Jacob Miller.
Moving styles between files are now easier — now you can just cut and paste them.
I was looking for a plugin to clean up my file and convert all color values to matching color styles, and this plugin got the job done perfectly. Thanks to Dave Kover for the recommendation!
“Associates colors to styles if it finds matching or very similar ones.”
Luis shows how to create styles at rocket speed using batch renaming and the Styler plugin.
People now can be @mentioned in Community comments. FigJam is improved on an iPad (hey, maybe Figma is next?). Style picker lets you select what libraries are enabled. And a few more improvements for admins of Organizations and Teams.
Just a few days ago, I tweeted that Auto Layout needs Styles, and now Pavel Laptev releases a plugin just for that! “The plugin brings an experience of Figma styles to the Auto Layout feature. You can make separate configurations of Auto Layouts, save and load them, lock or change at any time.”
Multiple updates in a single release. First, Styles can now be reordered, grouped together, and opened in a floating window. Second, you can add co-creators to your public Community files and plugins. And last, Figma files can be embedded in Asana’s project overview.
List view for color styles. In-line details for text styles. Search. The edit icon is available in the list view. Fantastic update!
Figma’s Designer Advocate Rogie King continues streaming the process of designing a cocktail recipe app. This part focuses on typography, colors, and style, while Part 3 brings at all together with additional views, prototypes, and transitions.
Click the target icon to select a color’s objects and change only them. Hit the styles icon to create a new style with a selected color, or apply an existing one.
Selection Colors has two new tricks!
— Figma (@figma) April 6, 2020
1. Use the target icon to select a color's objects & make adjustments to just those objects.
2. Hit the styles icon to create a new style with the selected color or apply an existing style.
