Minimize or hide the new UI to regain more screen real estate as you work.
Day 2: Hit Shift‑D or toggle the right end of your toolbar to access your Design mode.
Essential Figma shortcuts as A4 and A3 posters, via Nick Babich.
“Figma Shortcut Master Game is a cool prototype made in Figma. It’s a fun way to learn Figma keyboard shortcuts or test what you already know.” There is a total of 11 levels but they’re pretty challenging! Impressive what you can achieve with just a Figma prototype.
Molly praises the Cmd+\ shortcut for showing/hiding UI, and I want to expand her tip by adding that the Cmd+Shift+\ shortcut toggles only the left sidebar (Layers/Assets). Keep in mind that Cmd+\ also works in the Present mode — Figma toolbar has been popping up and blocking the navigation in one of my prototypes, so discovering that it could be turned off was a big relief.

Common keyboard shortcuts for developers to perform actions like zooming, dragging the canvas around, copying the link to a specific screen, selecting the parent of your selection, exporting selection, and toggling a layout grid.
That’s a pretty useful desk mat! It’s still worth investing in learning shortcuts while we’re waiting for the Figma Creator Micro keyboard. Made by Ratsuns.
On Tuesday, Work Louder opened preorders for the Figma edition of their Creator Micro keyboard that ships in Q2 2024. I never got into mechanical keyboards, but their other products look incredible and might be a tipping point for me — preordered the Figma mini-keyboard right away. See a sneak peek by Nolan Perkins, the unboxing stream from Miggi, and a behind-the-scenes thread from Robert Bye. The Verge and Fast Company have also covered it.
Anthony DiSpezio shares instructions and a script to see your most used keyboard shortcuts in Figma. (Can be a great starting point for setting up an upcoming Creator Micro keyboard!) On my personal computer, the top 5 are undo, deep-select, zoom-in, measure-to-selection, and escape.
TIP: you can see your most used shortcuts in @figma!

The good thing about evergreen tips is, well, that they do not get old — I keep forgetting about this one! Right-click while holding the Control key to see a list of objects below your cursor.
Evergreen @figma tip / helpful reminder!

Press control + right click on the canvas to see and select the objects that sit below your cursor.
If anything, it will remind you to name your layers 🫣🤫🫠. #figmatip pic.twitter.com/qSoZJrWims

A good-to-remember shortcut! Hold the Spacebar while dragging elements to maintain the hierarchy of the elements.
Here's a small but truly useful tip for @figma that you may not know:

Designer Advocate Mal shares a few handy shortcuts that are worth memorizing — quick actions search, hide the layers panel, insert components, and zoom to selection.

Great tip on using Figma object alignment shortcuts with MX Master mouse. I tried this mouse a few years ago and went back to Magic Mouse because of its amazing scrolling, but might give it another try just because of shortcuts!

Here's a pro tip to save time when aligning layers.#figmatip pic.twitter.com/l7rKQ8tpXq
“When you select multiple objects across multiple frames, holding Shift now gives you the option to align those objects as groups within their respective frames.”

This is my favorite kind of blog post! Software Engineer Dorothy Chen went down the rabbit hole of international keyboards and emerged from the other side in November when Figma shipped keyboard shortcuts support for a set of non-US QWERTY keyboards. Lots of fascinating details, and the story about the new uppercase eszett character is wild!
