A very solid list of recommendations, and not only for new designers.
The team at Lokalise collected the most creative ways to use Figma and talked with designers from LinkedIn, Netflix, King, and Bumble to reveal how they work with it.
🧵Things to know about reducing memory usage and file bloat in Figma:

Part of Rafal Tomal’s video series on his design process. Don’t miss the 2nd part as well.
Wanted to share something that I wish I had known sooner in @figmadesign, which is that it's possible to individually copy & paste effects just by clicking near the edge of them, within the Properties Panel, and then using ⌘C/⌘V. 📋 pic.twitter.com/HNnh19sNQT

Gumroad (which I love and use to sell my book) hosted a live design session using Figma and Clubhouse. What a great idea for gathering customer feedback in real time!
This afternoon we were able to do a live @gumroad design session on @joinClubhouse with @figmadesign. Real time customer feedback without scheduling 100 Zoom calls. Amazing! pic.twitter.com/13NGkyU6C0

A creative way of using components to create custom graphics.
Here is like 10% of the design system for my client. In this example, I have 2 components with the shape of lunchboxes + a few for details (like stickers) and inside those lunchboxes, I have variables with different foods :) so I can prepare graphics soooo fast :) pic.twitter.com/zfHNL3fIpx

What an unusual use case for Figma, but the end result looks great!
One of the challenges in designing stained glass art is coming up with harmonious colour palettes and textures. Glass is expensive material. So - today I made a digital glass colouring book for our pieces (in @figmadesign), so we can collab on materials before we start building. pic.twitter.com/K03We2lfzz

Smart workaround for selecting objects with a transparent background. I also like a follow-up from Gleb Sabirzyanov in the replies on ensuring that developers won’t implement this hack.
You may know this already, but this is a little trick I use for making selecting and swapping instances easier in @figmadesign. If your component has a transparent background give it a fill of 0.001. Now you can select it while holding down Cmd/Ctrl. pic.twitter.com/ZUb09AquAP

I only just found out that you can rearrange items with the little pink dot on your selected components / Frames / shapes.

A while ago, Rafal Tomal recorded an hour-long video on getting started in Figma, and now he shares why he switched to it completely.
Another developer’s perspective on using Figma. Nice to see how shared resources and available UI kits empower developers to design on their own.
A frontend developer’s glance at Figma. His view of Figma as a GitHub for designers rings very true to me.
Liam from Google Design shows how to craft a dark theme to complement your app’s Material Design light theme using Figma.
