⌘+⇧+K to place an image, ⌘+⇧+C/V to copy/paste it from/to an object.
Happy Friday! Here is a #FigmaTip showcasing some short keys to help master placing images in your @figmadesign designs.

Miguel Cardona on using OpenType features.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but some fonts come with stylistic alternatives for glyphs, and its super easy to swap them out in @figmadesign. Especially if a client has strong opinions on that letter "a" (true story).

This is Basic Sans, btw. pic.twitter.com/dT51BuKAN5
Great trick on using Union to preserve the color of icons.
Hottest #FigmaTip since sliced bread coming your way.

Here's a way to use variants AND icon instances with preserved colours 🤯 pic.twitter.com/iTNV664rQU
A quick tip from Figma Designer Advocate Anthony DiSpezio. (While on topic, read the story behind color named “rebeccapurple”.)
Quick @figmadesign tip for some www nostalgia - you can use CSS color names as hex values in Figma #FigmaTiphttps://t.co/DqCiMhbUtr

My favorite is "burlywood," what's yours?! pic.twitter.com/Iz9Ta5zNwW
Figma55 recorded a short demo of the recently released plugin by Figma cofounder Evan Wallace.
🎉🎉 Figma55 is one year old! 🎉🎉
— Figma:55 (@figma55) January 16, 2021
To bring in the new year, here's a video covering an often missed Adobe Illustrator feature that you can now do in Figma, thanks to @evanwallace's Variable Width Stroke plugin pic.twitter.com/vdNmwQ3gIi
An artwork by Robbie Smith.
Welp, took a lot longer than planned, but I bring you the @themandalorian , via @figmadesign ...#figma #illustration pic.twitter.com/t7Xm0erH1A

Another beautiful illustration by Bonnie Kate Wolf.
I hope y'all aren't tired of my Figma faux renders. This one is for @mmhmmapp <3

I love you a latte @figmadesign pic.twitter.com/Kjw4ZaAqFg
By Bonnie Kate Wolf. Don’t miss the textures she used, as shared in the replies.
The absolute masterpiece that is evermore by @taylorswift13 pushed me to my limits to explore what I can really do with @figmadesign pic.twitter.com/WE5qZkSVIm

Pablo Stanley explains how he used AI to create unique patterns for Blush.
When playing with geometric patterns and creating a Blush system, I realized that maybe a robot could recreate this. So I trained a model that generated really cool organic shapes 🤖
— Pablo Stanley (@pablostanley) December 30, 2020
Used @sketch, @Adobe illustrator, photoshop, @figmadesign, @runwayml, and @blushdesignapp pic.twitter.com/jnavSL1GlH
Smart workaround for selecting objects with a transparent background. I also like a follow-up from Gleb Sabirzyanov in the replies on ensuring that developers won’t implement this hack.
You may know this already, but this is a little trick I use for making selecting and swapping instances easier in @figmadesign. If your component has a transparent background give it a fill of 0.001. Now you can select it while holding down Cmd/Ctrl. pic.twitter.com/ZUb09AquAP

Cool demo by Figma Designer Advocate Luis.
How about some horizontal *and* vertical scrolling presentation slides within @figmadesign?
— luis. (@disco_lu) December 14, 2020
With the scrollTo release last week, we can make some slick multi-axis transitions.

Great skit by Pablo Stanley that made rounds in the community. Love how both Figma and Sketch played along and changed their names on Twitter for a while!

A few of us made little virtual desks for @figmadesign's biannual maker week. Since we can no longer express ourselves in an office, we figured this could be a fun alternative to get to know each other.

Sawyer Hood made a plugin that runs a Gameboy emulator inside of Figma and renders the output as vectors to the canvas. Not available in the community yet, but the source is already on GitHub.
For maker week at @figmadesign I really wanted to do something wild, so I made a plugin that runs a gameboy emulator inside of Figma and renders the output as vectors to the canvas. pic.twitter.com/M7up2Gb2a8

It's Maker Week at @figmadesign, so I made a Variants Pal plugin concept! 👀

Generate missing variants and add labels automatically. ✨ pic.twitter.com/EpztwnDIDy
Today's Maker Week challenge @figmadesign was to work in teams to make a mascot out of found objects. (One hour time limit)
— Dylan Field (@zoink) December 3, 2020
We need to pick a winner — hoping the Figma community can help us decide! (RT's appreciated 🙃)
"Art" thread ⬇️
It's Day 1 of our biannual Maker Week @figmadesign! This time we added a meta element and divided the company into four "houses" that are competing against each other in various challenges! First challenge = create a name and crest for your house: pic.twitter.com/unEJMZC7xG

A smart hack that can be useful with Auto Layout. (In the last issue, I included a different solution.)
I just found out a @figmadesign trick to create 0 width/height frame. You won’t be able to do this by using Frame (F) tool or by entering 0 as the width/height of your frame. Then how?
— Rukma W. Pratista (@rukmawp) November 30, 2020
Create a line, and frame it. Then delete the line. pic.twitter.com/2kqFgJt6br
Omg, wish I knew this before! This would have saved me years! 😂 @figmadesign #figtrick What are you going to do with your new gained time?🍷 pic.twitter.com/E5WWUijYYf

Did you know about this @figmadesign shortcut? I just discovered it and it's handy when working on complex documents 🤓 pic.twitter.com/v9hYzU37aE
