Figma’s Design Director Noah Levin introduces Product Designers and UX Writers who worked on new features. Great place to discover new talented people to follow!
Big launch day 🎉
— Noah Levin (@nlevin) May 10, 2022
A million thank you's are in order. As we've grown I can't quite keep up with every contributor with these props posts, but at the very least I wanted to share the product designers and ux writers who worked on SO many (15!) launches at #Config2022 today 👇 https://t.co/4MrDYg3gkg
Figma CEO Dylan Field kicked off Config 2022 with opening remarks and the launch of 15 new features, ranging from favoriting files to a new version of Auto Layout. At this point, I’m more excited about Dylan’s keynotes than Apple’s. Love how every Config makes our lives better by addressing real problems and small annoyances.
An excerpt from Dylan’s talk on how it took five years from the moment they started working on Figma to the first paid customers.
Enjoying learning about how @figma got where they are today

In my quest to learn, I'm going to be sharing everything I am learning from @zoink
It took them 5 years of working on Figma before they got their first customer

Interesting thread on a path that Dylan Field took from an intern and college dropout to the CEO of the $10B company.
From child actor to web developer to law to politics to data analytics to design to drones to founding the $10 billion giant called Figma: this is the crazy story of Dylan Field👇👇 pic.twitter.com/lUdxgGLOss

Joey Banks published a community file with a few Auto Layout resume templates to remix, use, customize, and call your own.
Figma Designer Advocate Luis Ouriach talks to designers from Automattic about improving collaboration through inclusive workshops and processes.
The nomination process for the Community Awards is over, and now it’s time to vote for your favorite plugins and resources before Config on May 10th.
Charli Marie helps get started with using FigJam by introducing the tools for creating user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, and brainstorming activities.
Sho Kuwamoto, Director of Product at Figma, talks about user input.
People often ask how @figma prioritizes its roadmap. It’s a hard question, which I’ll try to tackle over time in small bites.

Fantastic photo-realistic portrait of Jim Carrey as Robotnik from the Sonic movie.
I'm back with another illustration done only using @figma 😃 Here's Jim Carrey as Robotnik from the Sonic movie!

Vijay has some next-level patience and perseverance — it took 19K vector shapes to create the realistic fur of the panda. Mind-blowing!
Adorable face of red panda and the vibrant red color of #TurningRed inspired me so much that I couldn't resist making it purely in @figma 😍.

Charlie Marie explains why she values and uses both Figma and Webflow in her process.
Fascinating thread showing how countless experiments with Figma plugins and API finally led to the development of Automator. This thread was published in March, and two months later today, Jordan announced a $3M seed round for his company — can’t wait to see what he will build next!
Using Figma as a playground to build design tools on top of an infinitely scaleable, realtime multiplayer canvas has changed everything for me.

Nice trick on using “after delay” animation in combination with a Lottie file to avoid an infinite animation loop and play it only once.
Ready for a @figma prototyping pro tip?

Use interactive components w/ @LottieFiles
It's the best way to add animations to your design system
Here's how it works 👇 pic.twitter.com/A4oxSfefJW
Ridd discusses a few key principles for using base components: How often are you iterating on the component? How complex is it? Avoiding problems with Interactive Components. Pairing primitives with slots. Bringing in base components early on to speed up the process.
I'm starting to believe we're thinking about .base components the wrong way...

They're extremely powerful but only when used correctly.

Joey Banks shares how he typically names Variants in Figma and the approach he tries to take whenever he is feeling stuck.
What a great idea to let community members nominate their favorite resources. Looking forward to see the winners on May 11th at Config!
Dylan Field shared three steps that Figma takes to become a more global company. First, Figma incorporated in Japan, set up an office in Tokyo, and started working on localizing Figma into Japanese. Second, they’re expanding in EMEA by opening offices in Paris and Berlin. And last but not least, Figma finally added support for RTL languages! Great news for designers working with Arabic, Hebrew, and Urdu who relied on 3rd-party plugins in the past. See thread by Lauren Budorick on why implementing RTL support was a huge undertaking.
