Admins on the Organization plan now have more ways to see who’s using FigJam and who’s in need of an editor license.
Two new tools in an improved FigJam toolbar: Highlighter (Shift‑M, hold Shift for straight lines) to highlight text and objects and Eraser (Shift-Delete) to delete individual strokes to correct and refine your sketches. See also this tweet from Miggi on how to bring doodles made with Highlighter from FigJam to Figma.
After discovering a bug affecting how comments appear on the canvas, Figma paused the rollout of the new comments until later in January.
We recently discovered a bug affecting how comments appear on the canvas.

To ensure the best experience for our users, we’ve decided to pause the rollout while we look into a fix.
Once we’ve resolved the issue, we'll turn on the new comments experience for everyone in January. https://t.co/cY9K4yiz91
Major update to the Figma mobile app. Now you can view, browse, and share files and prototypes without being tethered to the desktop app, mirror designs on mobile for selected frames on desktop, and enjoy an intuitive and performant UX on iOS and Android.
“Use link previews to add sources of inspiration and useful context to your FigJam file. Paste links of rich media from other websites — like videos, articles, or documents — and FigJam will turn them into a preview on your board. Figma will even make some link previews interactive, which allow you to pan around Figma design files and city maps, or stream music and videos while you work in FigJam.”
“This month, we introduced capabilities that move you from task to task faster and make it easier to share and act on feedback, so you can take ideas from good to great.”
Tom Lowry gives a walkthrough of some of the new commenting improvements and enhancements.

Ryhan Hassan, Product Designer at Figma, on comments redesign: “To help teams manage and incorporate feedback throughout the design process, we’re introducing updates to comments in Figma and FigJam. These changes are designed to encourage collaborators to share comments and understand how to give better feedback, while helping designers more easily act on the input they receive.” Also, see his Twitter thread on design details and Christa Simon’s thread on design research.
Fantastic redesign of comments — now the pins are visible by default and form clusters when you zoom out. They’ve also added search, sorting, reactions, and selecting an area to comment on. Show or hide pins with Shift-C.
Plugin parameters are out of beta — open the quick action bar with Cmd-/ (Ctrl-/ on Windows), enter the plugin name, and select from a list of plugin-specific parameters or enter a custom value. Great way to speed up work with the keyboard.
So many great things in a single announcement! New pricing starting February 2022 ($0–5/editor/month), open sessions, widgets, plugins, embedded content, as well as new shapes, code blocks, and templates.
One of the many improvements that Figma ships unannounced. Looks really cool!
Hot 🥵 .. Have you seen the new transition when opening a file on the @figmadesign community ? And also the new layout of the pages. Kudos to @tonigemayel and all the team who manage/build the community space. pic.twitter.com/rocBiaS6CQ

Video recording of the latest announcements at FigJam: “Hear from Rogie, Bersabel, and Emily as they introduce Templates, new shapes, code blocks, open sessions, plugins, widgetsand new pricing! We’ll also feature live demos of widgets from our partners at Donut, Stark, and CoderPad; watch to learn how you can make FigJam the home for your brainstorms.“
“Previously the LIBRARY_PUBLISHED webhook only got triggered when components were updated. Style updates now also trigger this, giving users more accurate insights into their library updates.” See more on how to use Figma’s webhooks.
A recap of everything that got shipped in October: new FigJam capabilities (see below), Interactive Components, and Branching. A busy month after a multi-year effort!
Branching is now available to teams on the Organization plan. It was announced in April at Config 2021, but according to Rasmus Andersson, it’s been in the making for 5 years. The lack of branches was the main issue when my team switched from Sketch and Abstract to Figma in 2018, so I hope it will become available on the Professional plan one day.
You can now mix different text sizes in the same text box, sticky note, or shape.
New plus (+) and minus (-) buttons to make zooming in and out even easier in FigJam.
A quick summary of all the recent updates to Figma and FigJam.
You can now adjust the spacing between listed items in the type details panel. Finally! Such a small but important change — I had to imitate this with an Auto Layout in the past.
