Cool FigJam widgets made by Bersabel Tadesse and Noah Levin. Hope they’ll be published one day!
for @figmadesign's maker week this week, I helped facilitate 80+ Figmates learning how to build widgets, and worked with @nlevin to build a pixel art maker & drum pad widget. You can learn how to build widgets too! https://t.co/BaEqmvBnaX

Back to real work next week 🥲 pic.twitter.com/7dzMyVysuM
A peek behind the scenes of how Noah Levin created the first take on design system analytics (now available on Orgs plan) during one of the past Maker Weeks.
1/ Many of the features found in Figma today started as Maker Week projects. One of our favorites is a project led by @nlevin– design systems analytics.

It started as a request from a user who wanted an easy way to gauge the overall health of their company’s design system.🧵 pic.twitter.com/7aeCQnqoh1
The theme of this Maker Week is Figmaverse, and Anthony DiSpezio created beautiful branding and design system. To the moon!
It’s Maker Week at Figma!

Twice a year, the entire company is invited to pause day-to-day work and come together for a week of innovation.
This week's theme is Figmaverse (not related to the metaverse). Here’s how @adispezio brought our out-of-this-world branding to life🚀 pic.twitter.com/UKxmhQ88Zz
Breakdown of using Figma to illustrate and animate Vijay’s first NFT.
Making Magic Potions in @figmadesign. Here is a sneak peek of my first NFT collection @magikpotions, which I'm working on. illustrated and animated purely in Figma. Yes, we can create animation in Figma as well. Breakdown below 🧵 pic.twitter.com/LRHF7SChC4

Ridd shows an unconventional approach of using Interactive Components from the very beginning of the design process. Also, love his tip on using a second Figma window for the real-size preview!
Interactive components are my favorite @figmadesign feature.
— Ridd 🏛 (@Ridderingand) November 13, 2021
So why wait to use them until the end?
They're even more powerful as the very first step in the process!
Here's how I use them to explore new ideas 👇 pic.twitter.com/zir1RzgF2i

This is an unusual link for this place, but Rafa makes great observations about superior parts of Sketch. I’ve been skeptical about their Workspace and Real-time Collaboration, but the UI and native features were always top-notch. Glad they’re still competing with a strong product!
I've been using @sketch with the @alongvideo team exclusively for the past two weeks — here's some of the findings and highlights ✨

🧵 (I'll keep updating the thread as I go)
Jordan Singer shows some of the automations in his AI tool. Looks amazing, and you can join the waitlist at his website.

Powerful use of Figma variants and VS Code design toolkit to work on dark and light themes.
👨🍳 Been cooking with our @code design toolkit in @figmadesign to make our components easily theme between dark and light variants without adding additional color styles. This is looking promising. pic.twitter.com/EUUasD0EMv

A nice tip to UI kit maintainers from Jan Toman.
💡 A small usability tip for @figmadesign UI kit maintainers:

Add the component name to the component description. It's especially useful when the component name is longer than ~10 characters. pic.twitter.com/gawuvNle6X
Speaking of visual thinking, this prototype is a great illustration of the power of widgets. Can’t wait for it to get approved!
I got a very rough prototype of visual programming working with FigJam widgets! 🤯 Excited to experiment with this more.

Sho Kuwamoto on the role of widgets and how Figma and FigJam work together. See also his thoughts on why design tools exist.
When I think about figjam vs @figmadesign, I think of them as two points in a long path that we are on, as a company.
— Sho Kuwamoto (@skuwamoto) October 20, 2021
And this is because I don’t really think of figma as a design tool, per se

One of the many improvements that Figma ships unannounced. Looks really cool!
Hot 🥵 .. Have you seen the new transition when opening a file on the @figmadesign community ? And also the new layout of the pages. Kudos to @tonigemayel and all the team who manage/build the community space. pic.twitter.com/rocBiaS6CQ

Sho Kuwamoto on why it took so long to build and how other smaller features fit in a bigger vision.
I was kind of busy on launch day so I'm a little late to this tweet, but I wanted to share some thoughts on all the prototyping improvements we announced yesterday.https://t.co/DuPbvh3bHx

A first-hand perspective by Nikolas Klein on designing and building Interactive Components.
I dug through some of my old notebooks and found some old sketches that look super similar to interactive components today.

A few more fantastic Interactive Components usage examples from Nikolas Klein.
Design tools are not just there to let you 'do your job'.
— Niko (@nikolasklein) October 26, 2021
Design tools should allow you to venture into the unknown and uncover ideas you didn't even know you could have.

Bonnie Kate Wolf suggests using Unicode emojis in front of the variant name for a quick preview.
This is an amazing @figmadesign hack from @mattmatize for naming arrow variants. Add the unicode emoji in front of the variant name so folks can quickly see what they are going to be placing without reading. pic.twitter.com/JNEb3tdaGQ
